Support shouldn't depend on who can afford it
How we work with community groups

Three ways we can help

Group workshops

Experiential sessions on stress, coping, communication and emotional wellbeing — designed for the group in front of us and delivered in plain language.

Supporting the helpers

Frontline and NGO staff absorb a great deal and are rarely resourced for it. Sessions on burnout, boundaries and vicarious trauma for the people doing the holding.

Subsidised therapy access

Through the PREP Project, individuals your organisation supports can access therapy at RM 50 per session with supervised trainee practitioners.

Built around your community

No two communities need the same thing

A shelter, a refugee school, a group of carers who have never called themselves carers — the pressure in each is different, and so is what would actually help. We build community programs the way we build everything else: ask first, then design.

We ask before we plan

A conversation with the people who run the group, and where possible with the group itself. What gets designed after that tends to look nothing like the standard workshop.

We come to you

Community halls, shelters, classrooms, places of worship. Asking people to travel to a psychology centre in PJ is often the reason they never come at all.

We work to your budget

Community rates, a sliding scale, or funding through a partner organisation. Tell us what you have and we'll tell you honestly what's possible with it.

Why we keep doing this

A practice that only reaches people who can pay a full fee isn't reaching most people. Community work keeps us honest about that, and keeps our team in rooms very different from our own — which makes them better at the day job too.

Working with a group who need this?

Tell us who they are and what they're carrying. We'll find a way to make it work.
